what size are u looking for? 245/50/16 or 275/40/17s? and what are u looking to do with these tires? do u want a cheap tire that will last or a sticky tire that will only last 15k or so? does it have to be good in the rain? .. discounttiredirect.com and tirerack.com BOTH have a huge selection and great prices.....keep in mind dis tire dir has FREE shipping when looking at prices.....tirerack will be about 35-40 to ship the 4 tires

I am looking for 245/50/16. well I am looking for a little of both I need a little more bite, because the goodyear do not cut it. but don't want to spend alot. I am geting 17's in 5 or 6 months. driving in the rain dose not matter much, have a old 4x4 toyota for that.

um...y not wait to buy tires till u get the 17s??? kind of pointless to buy 16s now then in 6 mths stop using them .........ill send ya some links to great tires at great prices if i know which size your going to buy???? lol ...i wouldnt recommend those sumoitos unless your going for a hard tire that dosnt get great traction thats quiet and lasts a long time

as noted above stay away from sumi's they have a treadwear of 160, avg tire is about 300. they are terrible. i will never buy them again. im on my 3rd and last set. i had only used them on the rears due to the fact they are the only company that carries a 315 for under $200. but soon im swapping the 11" rears for some 9.5's. been looking at those falcons. also the pirelli's are sweet. anyone heard much about the BFG sports?

nope havnt heard a thing about them...but yes they do look like somthing to think about....i like the looks of the 200 tredwear max performace falcons for my next tire...there 158 bucks a piece ( 275/40/17)on discounttiredirect.com and ppls reviews of them on there sound fantastic..either those or some nitto drs in the rear

I read over 100 (out of 500+) reviews on a very popular tire site about Sumitomo's. I did not read the other 400 because I didn't want to take the time. Bottom line is that EVERYONE loved them. On a scale of 1 to 10 not one of them gave an overall rating of less than 9.
These people had purchased Sumitomo HTRZ II's for everything from Acura's to WS6's and they loved them.
I have purchased 2 sets for one of my sons over the past 2 years. One for a Ford Escort (riced out) and one for a Honda Del Sol (even more riced out. I'm talking fried rice with a crab rangoon on the side) I just bought another set 2 days ago for my other son's 2000 CamaroSS (275/35/18). They should be here on Tuesday.
You might look at Kumho Ecsta's as well. They are very affordable and perform well. I bought a set last month for my sons Honda S2000. They are a great tire.
Now that I read this, it's obvious where my money has been going.Last edited by Mr. Anderson; 12-23-2006 at 06:25 AM.

The Sumitomos I purchased were HTRZ II's, which rank #13 out of 46 in that catagory. I noticed the Kumhos I bought did even better being ranked #7 out of 47. But I mainly purchased them on the reviews of others versus the ranking. I've been really happy with them.
They are not the best tires out there, then again when you have 5 cars to maintain, you can't get the best of everything.

ahh yeah very true...adds up quick.....he was posting about the htz 1's though so thats what i was commenting on.....and the kumhos i had were the higher end max perf ones..dont remember the name..mmx somthing maybe..not sure......the grip with them was good...give it maybe a 7 or 8 out of 10...just the ride was terrible..and im comparing that to other high perm tires of the same exact size...275/40/17 ..they seemed to follow the grooves in the rd more so than other tires in that size as well......right now i have mich pilot sports 275/40/17s on my 01 z28 ...really cant comment much on them as there 6 yrs old and dry rotted...when heated they grip great though..cold and im all over the rd..lol..the ride is nice and there predictable though......VERY expensive tires and i would never buy them myself...previous owner did .... bfg KD's are far better for nearly a 100 bucks less per tire ..as i stated in a previous post im dieing to try the new falkens ..there max perf tire..200 tredwear .. 158 a tire...the reviews are fantastic and im wondering if they would even outperform KDs or come close to it for 80 less a tire.... found them in discounttiredirect.com if anyone wants to check it out......think i linked to them in the earlier post though
