rim+tire size question
hey, i need some help picking out size for tires. i have a 98 ws6 it is lowerd a inch, im going with newer style Z06 rims , want to go 18 front 19 back,, want to put at least 315 in the back if they fit.. wondering if anyone could help me if they allready done this. if 18*19 wont work i would go 18 all around.. so i guess my question is would 18/275front and 19/315 back be fine? and if im putting 315 in back how wide does the rim have to be?dont want any rubbing .. thanks

I think that will be too tall.. most likely it will rub in the back especially.. i had 295 on the back with 16in rims and they would rub pretty good when i would turn which was annoying. I guess its just a matter of finding the right wheels for clearance. how much rwhp you got to need 315s?

doesnt matter what size of diameter you run, 315s will rub unless you do a BFH mod. With the larger wheels, you go with a smaller sidewall so the overall height of the tire does not change.
As far as wheel width for a 315, I wouldn't go less than 10.5...most ppl run 11in with 315, but like I said, that requires hammering out the wheelwell.

lowered an inch, plus 19's is gonna make for a tight fit....you pretty much have to go low profile

Definitely going to need low profile with 19s. Are you hoping to take your car to the track? If not I'd save yourself the hassle with the 315 and go with 295 at most on the width. Not sure if this would require and adjustments for a fit. But you can get 295's on a 9.5 wide wheel if I remember correctly. This will free up some room and is still a wide tire. Not an expert by any means but asked a bunch of these questions a while back so thought I'd pass along what I was told. I'd recommend like 295/35/19. Just my .02

thx for the info guys.. so im huge on having wide tires i really like the look of wider tires that pretty much the main reason why im looking for wider tires, and i have 410's i would assume wider in the back would help hooking.. so now its 275 all around.. im no tire expert, wondering if i go 18 all around would 275 in front be to big? or should i put something like 255/40 18 in front and 295/35 18 in back?

I think the 275s in front and 295s would look good. You will want to keep the sidewall height the same if you are running the same diameter of wheel in the front and back (18s in your case). If you have 18s in back with a 35 sidewall and 18s in the front with a 40 sidewall youll actually hurt yourself because your car will sit higher in the front. Essentially you tire would be taller in the front than in the back. You would only do a taller sidewall (say 40 on front and 35 in back) if you had bigger diameter wheels in the back (say 18s on the back and 17s in front). That way the tires sit at the same height overall

hey, so i guess 275/35 18 front and 295/35 18 in back is what i should be going for.. for somereason i was thinking the wider the tire the less height of the tore should be as in 35 or 40 if that made sense, thanks again

No problem. Post some pics in this thread when you get it done. I wanna see what the 295s look like on the back. Slight chance I may go wider on the back but wanna see what it looks like first.

yeah i like the way my 295s looked on the back of my t/a... mine were 295 50r16 and they were so beefy on the back.. i got alot of compliments but i prefer the bigger rim and less tire that is why i switched to 275 all the way around.

How do they hold up lifewise? Look like they might not do well on wet pavement. (Not that I drive alot on rain etc but just curious)
