question regarding rims and tires?

I've currently got these rims on the trans am (Purchased it with them, as well as the stock 17s).

I've been told these are 17 in the front 18 in the rear. Unsure what style of vette rim these are.

Owner has 275/40/zr17s on the front and 295/35/zr18s on the back. Problem is I'm noticing some rub in the wheel well on the fender inside. very minor, but theres this nice little shiny spot where the tire rubs with the 295s.... Is this normal?

Would 285s work without sacrificing traction? I really don't want to put spacers on if I don't have to.

if it's on the driverside and is on the rear side of the wheel well then, it's this plastic guard for the pipe going to your fuel tank. you can remove it, although I'm sure your probably not supposed to. I took mine out because my back wheel was rubbing it on bumps.

and those are aftermarket C5 ZO6 wheels

It's on both driver and passenger side, and on the front of the wheel well and a bit on some rubber bracket. Car wasn't lowered or anything to my knowledge.

I just put a new set of Z06 wheels on my car. 9.5 front and 10.5 rear. The rears have Nitto DR's size 305 35 18. Had to remove the bump stops to stop them from rubbing. Aside from doing that they fit great. Car is not lowered. My fronts do rub a little and did with the stock size 275 40 17. Not sure how to fix that.
