Plasti Dipped OEM 5 spokes.
So I was considering deepdish black wheels with a chrome lip, but I had never seen a black T/A with that setup and was unsure if I would like it over just chrome... Anyway I was browsing youtube and saw a couple videos of people using 'Plasti Dip' to paint their wheels, grills etc. It's a synthetic rubber coating for tools, and it can peel right off if you don't like it. Hmmm..
Here are the results, before and after. (Sorry for the Cell pics)
BEFORE:
AFTER:
Excuse the finger in the shot :/
I'm thinking making it have that lip is going to significantly decrease the life of the plasti dip, since it almost started to peel off with the masking; Overall I like how it looks. I thought it was going to be too much black at first but it has grown on me.

Looks Damn good to me. Next time you have your tires balanced, have them put the hidden sticky weights instead of those outer weights which scratch the lip. (personal preference)

Yeah, bought the car like that in November. No idea why you would put those on the outside of a wheel like that.

Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
Looks very good. You now have 16" CETA wheels. See...I like creativity. This is a good example. Well done.

I bought a can of it at Lowes for 6 dollars, used 2 heavy coats and they were done. Be sure to remove the masking right after the last coat or it will peel the paint off with it. It dries very quickly.

Great looking wheels. Does the plastic stay on longer than paint?
They put the weights on the outside of my wheels last time I had them balanced too.

I've seen reports of this lasting quite a while (~less than a year) for what it is. I doubt mine will last that long because I chose to do a lip.

I saw a commercial for a similar product to this last night, but it was a much more durable rubbery coating, and the first thing I thought was, could you spray this on tires every so often for infinite tread life?

how's it holding up?

Very well actually, it's only chipping/falling off where I didn't get thick enough coats on, on one wheel. It also holds up surprisingly well to a power washer. I plan on stripping it off for the winter, though. I'll definitely be on the lookout for some real CETA wheels.

Not crazy about the big sidewall of the 16's but the job itself looks damn good!
