New Tires What Size For The Rear?

I Will Be In The Market For 4 New Tires.. I Will Keep The Factory Size Up Front But Want To Get A Wider Tire For The Rear. The Car Is A 2001 Ws6 With Stock Wheels. The Factory Size Is 275/40/17 But How Wide Can I Go With Out It Boldging Too Much? What Is The Widest Rear Tire You Can Fit On A Stock Wheel (in The Rear). If You Run A Wider Tire Please Post Pictures..

275/40/17's on the stock wheels.

Any wider, and you will start loosing traction patch.

How About Buying A Staggard Set Like The Vette. 265/40/17 Front And 295/35/18 Rear?? I Would Love To Get This Kind Of Look. Has It Been Done Before?? If So Pics Please.

I went with 17's all the way around though.

My vette has 275/40/18s on the back, 245/45/17s on the front. I actually want to narrow up the front tires, and don't understand why the WS6 had such wide fronts. The bad part is that there is no rotation b/c they are directional. Only option is to buy tires as they wear.
