My 315 fitting experience so far
I recieved and installed my wheel/tire package today. When I was trying to research online to see what wheels and tires I could run I found ALOT of conflicting information so I thought I'd post my experience.
I ordered TTM Chromes from Tomz, 17x9, 17x10.5, with 275 and 315 summitomo tires respectively. I did not need the BFH mod, or the bump stop mod, or anything else, nor did I need to mount the tires by jacking on the axle to clear the bump stops, although there was only about 1/8" to spare.
Tires fit just like the Tomz staff told me they would, without modification. I should mention that my car is stock height and that I haven't done alot of driving yet, if I get rubbing I'll post back.

blacker than wesleysnipes- 98' trans am
trans Am's in general have more room to play with..without needed to do the bfh mod....however you are riding at stock height...almost no one does that once they get rims...i also think you might run into trouble when you allow your suspension to drive....hard runs/drives ect.....but yea post back with us.

I'm sure you'll be fine unless you lower, and you still may be fine. I had the 17x11's on 315s and I had to do a little bfh at the lower front of the wheelwell. You have a 1/2" better clearance than folks running 17x11s most likely depending on your offset. I believe the 17x11 are a +54 offset? Where's the pix?

I have the same setup and am lowered with BMR springs and didnt have to do any modifications either. I run the Nittos though.

OK, so I've got a FEW miles on them so far. The only thing I've noticed so far is that the fronts will rub if you hold the steering right against the end, back off enough to let the pump stop whining and nothing.
And now............. pictures

hey, it looks good. i got suckered into getting torqthrust c or m (whatever they are). i was originally going to get the IIs but i was ordered these instead by the tire shop (aholes). but it does look pretty damned good in black and all that chrome that comes with it.

Damn, those tires are like $99 through Tire Rack!! What the hell are they made of? Not too many 314/35R/17 tires out there. Hope they last awhile.

Yeah lol, I'm not expecting really long life out of them, but with the miles I put on my car, the should last years.
As for what they're made of.......... well, it looks like rubber, bounces like rubber, and smells like rubber....... if you want the results of the taste test you're welcome to come over and perform it yourself. But you're right it's bound to be some OLD technology stuff.

LOL. Agreed. If you're happy with them, that's all that matters. Good luck with them anyway.
