help! aluminum wheels have streaks! all tips welcome

Hi there... my mechanic thought he was doing me a favor by detailing my car, but as soon as I took a look at it I knew exactly what he did....

I have the aluminum 'vette Z06 wheels and they WERE mirror shiny because I took an electric power drill w/a foam cone and meguire's polish and put in some sweat and hard work.... I think he messed those bad boys up ! They had spots and streaks (cloudy)

I asked him - "You didn't by chance try to put wheel cleaner on the wheels while they were still hot, did you???"

And he said yes.

QUESTION: How do I get them back to being spot-free and shiny-as-shit like they were before this "favor"?

I just bought that wadding stuff but it isn't seeming to work too well? Is it just hours and hours and several phases that I'm looking at??

I'd recommend some good aluminum polish like mothers billet to clean them up. Depending on the condition it might be a good idea to wetsand them first with something like 1500-2000 grit or higher, then polish.
