Firestone Wide Oval or Firestone Indy 500 Wide Ova

Anyone have any comments on the Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval vs the Firestone Indy 500 version of the tire. The original was discontinued and I guess replaced by the Indy 500 version.
I'm replacing all 4 tires on my 2002 WS6 Trans Am.

I recently installed the new version of the Firestone Indy 500 tires (245/50-16). When I first took them on the road they had a lot of sidewall flex and when I'd turn, it felt like I was riding on balloons. However, after 1000+ miles it seems like they have stiffened up quite a bit and the cornering is much crisper. They are a quiet tire and my calculated gas milage has gone up around 1.5 miles per gallon. I'm currently running them with 35 psi tire pressure. Time will tell how the tread wear works out.

i have the firestone wide ovals... (the ones before they were discountinued)

and i love them...

they grip like crazy

my only complaint is the wear, they wear down fairly quickly....
i have put around 7K miles on them and the back is down to about 3/32nds (spirited driving), but the front is like new still so i rotated them.

i would buy them again.

Whats the difference between the wide oval and the indy 500? are they the same tire literally?

indy 500 has so many grooves it looks like a rain tire.
