    Factory 10-spokes, hold the salt

I just need to vent. My '01 SS has the original wheels on it, but since I went to Utah for 2 years for school, the salt on the roads in the winter collected between the rim and the tire bead, and now all 4 wheels leak air until they are flat every couple of days. I've gotten way to familiar with my compressor, more than I should be anyway. The chrome is flaking and the aluminum is pitted. From the outside, you can't even tell, until you break down the tire. Quite depressing. This is not the reason I needed to get new rims. Anyone else had to deal with this?

lol all we have to deal here in texas is the heat of the road thank good we dont have snow. on the other hand when i went to north dakota with my 07 silverado this started happening to all the rims and i had 24's so yeah i think salt has to do with something. if i remember correctly i used an acid called spokes its for chrome rims and all the ugly stuff except the flakin

You can try bringing it somewhere where they have nitrogen filling. It is expensive but might hold. I live in the Northeast and don't have any problems like that. Here they salt the roads if there is a chance of snow or ice.

Yeah, they could use sand instead, but who cares about everyone's cars, right? Driving in Utah in the winter just wasn't fun after living in Texas all my life. i may get them repaired, I don't know yet. Hey pumpkinman, did that Spokes stuff fix them from leaking, or just remove stains and deposits?
