effin lug locks!!!
i posted something before about removing locking lugs without a key, but ill try this again. i have the MC2 RT16 18/8.5 rims for my GTO, but was sold the car without the key. does anyone know where i could get a replacement or a good method to remove them without damaging the rim (they are really nice lol)?
any advice would be extremely helpful.

Depending on what the key looks like you can order a new one or can hammer a socket onto the key and it will come off. I have had to do this both ways.

When I had my parents Beretta GT, the dealership rotated my tires and kept the wheel lock. I went back a week later and the technician that worked on my car was no longer working there. I ended up having to order a set with 4 lugs and the key and had the old ones broken off. I had taken the car to a local Goodyear to have them cut off. Ebay wasn't around then, so maybe try and see if you can get a set off that site or a local GM dealership.....It was like $25.00, but this was in 1997, so it is probably going to cost more.

No key number to order a new one, I second the socket hammered over the lock lugs.
Done that quite a few times for people and it does work, McGards or not.

There are universal wheel lock removers available. They look like a socket and you tap them on with a hammer. The locks are usually damaged in the process also.

We use to use an air chisel back in the day. You gotta be careful, but it works.

I also agree with the hammering of the socket method. I have had to do this for customers. If a tech with a thinwall socket can get the job done, then don't worry and let em at it.

I just had this problem I just took it to a tire shop by me (Big O) and they removed all 4 for me for less than $40 and didnt hurt the rims at all.

Agree. I have never installed locking lug nuts on any of our cars.

Agreed, besides if someone steals your wheels file an insurrance claim and be done with it.
