    Curb Rash Fix...

Ok, so Im wondering if I can use a dremel to fix up a little bit of rash I have on my wheels... Here's a picture....

I definitely wouldnt be taking off enough to throw off the balance, just enough to smooth it out and maybe toss a layer of paint on top. Any other suggestions would be great.

Had the same problem. Here was my fix:

Masked off the tire and rim with two layers of duct tape, leaving the damaged lip exposed. Used a fiber disc dryloc on my air grinder and gently smoothed the rough edges. Then, using 400 wet sandpaper, I feathered the area to blend it into the rim before polishing and applying a protective sealant.

If you look close, you can see a slight color transition from the clearcoat to the repaired area. However, it looks 100% better than it did and for the most part is not noticeable.

For future purposes, a wider tire will remedy most of your curb rash problems.

As will not smacking your wheel into the curb. Ours came with wheel damage when we bought it. I agree though -- running the stock tire size there is essentially no safety margin from rubber to rim.

I have different rubber on there now, but this curb rash was a lesser of two evils I had to choose between. It was either jump up onto the curb, or get smacked by an ass merging into me while talking on his cellphone. Thanks for the reply though, Im going to give it a try in a few days when I finish Pedderizing my front end.
