Can you buy the spare donut tire at a tire store?

I was checking the tire pressure on all my tires and decide to check the spare as well. To my surprise the tire thread was separated about 8 inches long. I heard in the past that you can't buy these spare at a tire shop. Is this true? Thanks.

shipping would probably be terrible but I still have my unused donut I'll sell you if you can't find one locally. I'm sure though if you check with a tire place you can find one.

Thanks for the replies guys. I know I can buy one used from ebay(or from Orion lol). I really want just the tire and I want it brand new. I think an old used tire will give me the same issue. I was kinda of scared because I used the tire last month when my front was leaking. I was driving slow but I can't even imaging what would had happened if the tire came apart like that. I hate these donut tires but we don't have room for a full rim...

I will stop by the tire shop and see if they can get it.

There is good news and bad news. Good news is that I can order the tire from my local tire shop. The bad news is that is not the same and they want $208 installed My tire is a T135/60 R16. They look on the computer and they can get a T135/80R16. I know this will fit but i'm afraid it won't fit in the spare area because is bigger.

I guess i will keep looking around. I might have to buy an used one then. Is there other vehicles that use the same donut? Thanks.

I just called tirerack.com for ya, and they only have a T135/70/16 in a Bridgestone. It is a little bigger than your current one(dia of ~21.5-22 inches) versus 23.4 inches for the Bridgestone. They are currently backordered on them, and the price wo shipping is 152. Ouch. Their number is 1-800-461-5527. I have found that Discount Tire will match tireracks prices when you include shipping. Hope this helps. On the other hand, I am pretty sure I have seen people with a full spare in the trunk. You just can't use the t top holders or your divider.

Thanks Az. The tire shop i went to was discount tire. they can't find anything other than T135/80/R16. I can get a full spare in the trunk but i will loose my trunk. I do need some trunk space since is my only car. I will continue to check around and i might have to take off a full tire and check sizing in the trunk area. Thanks again for checking with tirerack.

throw a can of fix a flat in there and call it a day $7.49 for a savings of $200.51.......you're welcome.

I mean people spend all kinds of time and money putting vette parts on f-bodies.....z06 rims, fuel rail covers, brakes, ect ect. Why not use a vette spare tire in there too and save $200.

Thats pretty much what i have right now. two cans of fix flat. Will the spare from a vette fit the same in the spare tire area?
I'm not really into buying a new spare. if anything I will buy an used one. I just need to find one locally. There is a place that sells lots of F bodies parts and may have it.

I think you missed the whole point of that post The vettes have a can of fix a flat in them from the factory as their spare. So yes......it will fit in your car easily. Maybe even under the seat.
