i had 285/40/17 on my Z with 9.5 rim.. no issues at all. it was lowered and still had room to go wider. but is not a good idea to go wider than 275s. just my opinion..

With the right offset you can run 315s up front without issues

315's will fit up front.
Just don't go much over 26" tall and it will be fine.

Need a litte help as well???
I seen a guy here that was running a 19x9.5 HP Racing EVO 2 wheel and really want a set for my ride. My question is what tire size and back spacing would be needed with out the front rubbing? If that is possible. I do not plan on lowereing the car. Thanks for any help!

You could use ebay as a reference. Type in HPRacing Trans Am and see what comes up as far as size and offset.
