Best tire size for 17x8.5 rim

255/45/17 or 255/40/17.

For proper height, if you get a 275 get a 40 and if you get the 255 get a 45.

I've read how some members say that 8.5 is too small for 275 and some members say its okay. So 275 is okay? Because I would prefer 275 over 255. Thanks for the replys!

The proper tire size for a 8.5" wide rim would be a 245/45/17

just get some wider rims then bigger tires it will solve everything

275mm will fit a 8.5"rim. Plus you will have a cushion barrier to protect the wheel. You will essentially get a very slight amount of tire past the rim, but me personally ,I think it looks good.

If you go by some standards, a 275 will fit a 17X11 rim.... but do you know what that would look like.... The tire is forced under extreme pressure to seat the beads that far outwards. It better to be a bit wider than too narrow.

It will fit, but is ultimately up to you, as there are 3 different sizes that can fit your wheel. Good Luck

A 275mm wide tire will fit on an 8.5" Rim but is not reccomended by any tire manufaturer. Do as you please but I wouldn't put a 275 mm wide tire on an 8.5" rim.
