Anyone try 285/40-17's on the front?
I'm looking to buy 285's for all four on a factory 17x9.5 wheel. I want something with a little more sidewall and these fit the bill. Section width is 1/2 inch more than the 275's and 2/10th of a inch taller.
I'm thinking they'll fit the front fine without rubbing while turning. Just hoping someone would have first hand experience. Thanks.

Wow I never imagined 315's on the front.
I'm thinking of the 285's on all four. Just would like a little extra sidewall and these seemed to fit the bill.
Thanks for the help. I'm going to order next week.

I don't think you ever really got your answer so, I am running Nitto NT555's in the size mentioned and the do not rub at all.
To answer another poster: Sam Strano has run 315's on all four corners and in my opinion they look great, don't stick out at all, and he ran them on the road course so I doubt they rub at all.

Actually, you can fit 335 in the front without any rubbing nor mods whatsoever.
I run 315s in the front daily and @ the track... under heavy cornering...
The rear is a different story... there you get rubbing, need to center, hammer, etc... front is plug + play.
check pix in signature if you want to see what 315s look like in the front.
no probs w. the 285s.Eugenio_SS
almost stock triple-black 2000 SS convertible with 17x11s on all 4 w/ 315s at the track or on the street with 18x10.5s on all 4 w/ 315s: (1), (2)

I've had 285's on all 4s for years, never a problem or rub anywhere.

factory wheels are indeed 17x9" but the 285/40-17 still fit in them.
