315 or 275 M/T drag radials? Which one?

Alright, I am finally taking the Camaro to the strip. I know for a fact that my 315 Vredesteins are gonna spin like crazy so I need to get some drag radials. I am looking at either the 315 or 275 M/T drag radials. I have either a 11" or 9.5" wheel so either will fit my wheels.

I have never ran a drag radial, only a true slick. What is going to hook best for me. I am putting down close to 500rwhp and when the boost kicks in at 2K, it's all over! My suspension is not exactly setup for the drag, but it is pretty close for being a street mostly car.

Will the 315's be over kill?

most people are gonna say go for the 315 but you really dont need it. people run into the 10s with 275s.

This is true but is it because they do not need all of that traction that the 315 would provide?

there are always thresholds for everything.you can get 315s and they wont do u any better than 275s at certain power and you would have wasted more money.

If thats true than I hope that they are better for the street like they claim.

Actually the 315's are only a few dollars more than the 275's

You can prolly get away with the 275s at your power level. A 315 should help ya a bit more on the street though

I'd definitely go with the 315's since you say price is close and you already have the 11" wide wheels for them. They're both the same height, so you'll get the most rubber on the road with the 315's. With the stiffer sidewalls of a 17" wheel, no matter the suspension setup, you need all the help you can get. No-brainer IMO.

Alright, that 2 for the 315's!

    What are you running?

315's now that the 15" ProStar setup is long gone...

Unfortunately, though, I only have Nittos at the moment.

As soon as they are done, which won't be long, I'll be getting some MT's for the 17x11's that my slippery Sumitomos are now on. I chose to put the 315 Nittos on my spare 17x9.5 TT2's due to them looking stupid (IMO) on the 17x11's. MUCH better fit on a 9.5" wide wheel than an 11" one. Crappy street traction with them on either wheel though.

Obviously, there is zero comparison between the two brands, but with work hours cut back, I had to take the most cost effective route. $250 for two used 315/35/17 Nitto DR's and two 17x9.5 TT2's is as cost effective as it gets, lol.

Honestly...I see them both hooking about the same.

I am just going by the pictures.
The 275 (in the picture) is the older cheater slick.

I don't believe the newer design grabs quite as well. Might be wrong though.

I had the MT ET streets. Pretty sure thats what Luos is calling the cheater slick. It hooked great, But I wont ever run them on the street again. They dont last for shit, and HATE to see any tire spin on dry pavement. Also, they get pretty wobbly at high speeds on the street imo. I just bought 2 Nitto 555r for the street, whats left of my MT ET's will see the track, and only the track.

I was under the impression that the Nitto's were worse as far as grip?

I wonder if the sidewall has changed on the M/T II's ?

I think Hi-Po is talking about the bias ply ET Streets, not the drag radials...
