275s or 295s in the front?

I am ready to pull the trigger on buying tires. I currently have 18x10s in the front with an offset of 56mm. I am trying to avoid the stretched look of my current 275/35/18. What size tire do you guys suggest for the front? My buddies say I shouldn't go any wider than 275. here's the tires im going with. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

295 to get rid of the stretch look, but then it'll put more pressure on your p/s pump too.

i know exactly what you are talking about.

im running 285/40/17 Nitto 555's with my 17x10 wheels on the front of my SS. i am ever so slightly getting rub marks on the inner plastic wheel wells if making a really sharp turn or go from lock to lock while steering. i feel 295 would be too wide for you, even at +56mm. im at +52mm and rubbing. pretty sure you can do the math there in respect to what rubbing may take place with your setup.

    good luck...

i'm not sure i know how to do the math. i'm really bad when it comes to offsets and knowing what works. i just hate the stretched look but maybe i need to stick with the 275s then.

I think it will rub really bad bro. I have 275s on 9.5s up front, im also lowered, and they even rub every now and then. I also hate the ricer stretched look too but I think with a 10" wheel you may have to deal with it unless you’re ok with the rubbing and everything. I have actually heard of people running 315s on all 4 corners but that was with lots of modifying.

someone on tech suggests I go with a 30mm sidewall for the front since the rear has to be a 30mm sidewall. so i might be looking at 285/30/18 F and 315/30/18. any thoughts on this set up?

that may be your best bet. Not sure if you are already running 315s out back or not but make to to roll the rear fender lips if you havent already. otherwise you will have it rubbing and cutting into the tire which is bad on so many levels. Good luck man.

I had 275s and loved the look but on a 10 inch rim 295s might look better.depending on how much room you got i'd say spring for them but its all depends on how much room you got now

i just dont wanna buy something that doesn't end up fitting. i want it to be right the first time around cause that'll save me money in the long run. do u think 285s will work in the front ( problems with rubbing, turning, or stressing the P/S pump) or should i just do the 275s.

285's seems to be a good compromise

Anything larger then 275 on a normal street driven vehicle will drastically change your cars handling unless you have your suspension tuned for it and you will rub with 285 and above. I wouldn't recommend it. You know most tire of that size cost the same if not more then the rims, why not buy 2 front rims instead that are 9 1/2 wide? Then 275 would be perfect. it might save you in the long long. You will wear and damage those 2 new tires if you go bigger then 275 and doing so you cause you to buyer another set sooner then expected. Just my 2 cents, take it for what its worth. I have 275/18 on a 9 1/2 in front and 295/18 on 10 1/2 out back.

the rims i have cost $4200 new so thats not an option granted i didnt pay that but they are extremely expensive. i guess i will just run the 275s. i know they will and i know they won't give me any problems.

at least you're not like me running 245 up front on a 9" rim.
