    1998 Firebird Formula

    18x8.5 C6 rims on my 98 Formula, how wide can I go over 245?

    I put Factory GM Vette C6 rims on my 98 Formula and all 4 rims are 18X8.5 inch. I am tire shopping and wondered how wide a tire I can get away with without rubbing or having them stick out of the wheel wells? I currently have BFG KDW's in 245/40 on and am looking for something a little wider. What would you guys suggest I could get away with?? If it makes any difference I think I settled on Nitto NT 555 Extreme's as the tire I'm buying. After reading some other threads...... I dont have any spacers or anything on the rims. I am looking for extra traction mainly but I dont want to run into turning issues or them rubbing on anything. Thanks

    A 255/40 would be a good fit for a 8.5" rim. I wouldn't go any wider
