... So tomorrow morning I plan on being up bright and early at 5:00am and seeing who all is leaving for work about then. What would ya'll do? I'm thinking about heading up to a collision center and getting a quote to hand to them. If not that, maybe a rock through the window to even it out.

Gotta assume they backed into it, I park in front of my garage and there are parking spaces behind that, but with enough room to get a f***ing suburban out of the parking spot so...

Pewter metallic- 2000 Camaro SS
Someone is definately backing into. Same thing happened to me with my previous SS vert. My paint didn't start peeling until 24 hours later after I was hit, my alarm went off as well.

You need to lay spike strips behind your car when you park it. Just don't forget to move them when you leave!

Immediately search for a car with any indicative damage, and photograph the crap out of it, then politely confront them, and take it to their insurance... then file a police report for a hit and run, and start parking in the garage. Sorry to hear about it though!

Where the hell do you live where someone keeps backing into you?
Better yet, who is the jackoff that keeps doin it?
Dude...seriously, I would set my alarm for 4a.m. grab a nice cup o' Joe and a baseball bat, and eyeball who even comes within five feet of her.
Oh man, someone would be a payin...big time.

Close... I was hiding out this morning. Got up at 5:00am and sat on my porch (out of view) untill about 6:00am and only 1 person left for work between those times (about 5:45am). I got kinda excited but he walked down the road a bit to his garage, Its not him. I don't know who it is - I have looked at all the cars near my apartment building and see no indication of impact with my car.
I'm not gonna fix it until I move out (about a month). My new apartment will have a 2 car garage. I would have it in my garage now but its either the Camaro or the Corvette that gets to hide away... (http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread...highlight=1974)

So I took off the flaking paint and sanded the edges so water will (hopefully) quite getting up under the paint and making it peel up more. Here is the damage...
Collision Center quoted me almost 500 bucks to repaint the bumper - which sucks even more because they can never perfectly match the paint.
Well... at least this picture makes me happy...
... purdy...

Not so true. After 8 years of sun, salt, and general wear, black is no longer regular black.
They can however match it pretty well. The true test will be time. Any shop can make it look perfect, but will their paint fade (or not fade) at the same rate of your factory paint? Again, I'm sorry to hear this, it's a shame that this happened to such a pretty car. Keep us updated!

If the paint peels off, it is the paint shops failt. Picking of flaking paint and sanding the edges will not prevent addition peeling. Properly applied paint on soft bumpers is not supposed to peel off. I bet if you went to a good spot in the paint on the soft bumper and pushed on it, the paint would start to chip. If I were to kick my bumper with my foot (which I wouldn't) the paint would not chip but yours would. Go, and BITCH about the quality of the paint.

You're right, but it was a cheap paint job (less than 1000) so I really cant complain too much... I knew it wasn't show car quality. I've already started saving... but it will probably be a while before I can get it repainted, Moving to a new apartment soon and that's NEVER cheap.
Thanks
