    Roof Panel paint bubbles

I have a 2000 camaro SS and it has the common problem with the roof panel paint bubbling up. GM has a service bulletin out on this problem, TSB bulletin # 03-08-98-001. I just bought the car from the original owner with only 5900 miles on it. My question is, can I get Chevy to do the repair (at there expense) on this item even though it's 9 years old and but was never brought in for the repair. Thanks.

I seriously doubt it, You are probably going to either do it yourself or Pay someone to do it, Although, I had mine replaced about 6 months ago at the Dealership no cost..

Check your state's Lemon Laws. Many lawfirm websites have informative pages on your rights as a car owner. However, since it has been nine years, you are probably going to have to pay for it yourself.

Go to your local dealer(s) and ask to speak with the service department manager. Show the car and mention the TSB. Don't indicate up front that you are the second owner. A car with 5900 miles should speak for itself on it's 'new' condition even at nine years old. See what they say. Be prepared to possibly offer to split the cost of the repair with the dealer/GM. I've had success both ways over the years of having a shop fully cover a repair as a good will job and also splitting the cost. It never hurts to ask right?
    Good luck.

Any lawyers on this site!!!!!! They did it for lip stick, how about a class action lawsuit for ignoring a know defect! If intersted chime in! Lets get 1000 people and I will send to GM and see what happens.

The reason they never showed up sooner on "his part" was he never had it out in the sun......Your problem now.

Just do it yourself. GM isn't gonna pay for it. Find you a wrecked 98 in a junk yard and still the roofs. They don't seem to do it!

I converted a 98 t top to a hard top and kept the roof for myself so that worked out
