Questions about VHT
So yeah, my reverse lenses are foggy and cracked(on the inside) from over 10 years of DDing. I happened to look at some pics today and I have a few questions and comments..
1. What sandpaper/prep will I need on my tailights?
2.Where can I buy VHT?
3. Can VHT polish out and be shiny as the rest of the car?
4. If not will a clearcoat work?
I looked for a writeup for a while with no avail and i sent some peoples some pms
BTW I will be buying a new set of stockers for the super resto in a few years... I love the look of them

1. I think i used 600 grit, then some 1200
2. O'Reiley's
3. Yes, i believe, i let it dry and then put clear coat on em. Then i think i used the 1200 grit again on the 3-5 layers of clear coat, then 2000 grit, then i used a polishing compound
its a lot of work but mine shine pretty good
The third pic is before and after side by side. I eventually got em so there were no scratches.

Can you post a pic of them on your car during the day with you brake lights lit?

Bought some model tint paint and used it on my corners. Turned out well and gave it a red tint, scuffed , painted, the cleared and they look very in daylight. Its 5 bucks a can and you can do all the corners. I got another can and im going to do the front lights as well. Not as much on the front. Thanks for the writeup btw!

I would like to see this...
I am a one man team, and i can't pull off the break lights ok...
i'll see what i can do though, daylight or night time?
if you are worried about light shining through, then ask anyone with vht, you can see your break lights very very easily.

All depends on how thick you lay on the VHT on how bright your lights will be.
I don't have a pic with the lights on, but here's a recent shot.
I know someone is going to say I need to do the third light, but I kind of like it how it is.

^^^That looks good. Can you see your tail lights good at night when just your lights are on, not you brakes?

OK, so I got home, and wouldn't you know it, it was cloudy outside. So I said screw the daytime pics, for now. Since you wouldn't get a true judge of the brightness.
Here are some night pics I just shot though.
First is tails on, but with a flash on the camera - darn camera.
Tails on, No Flash. Yeay for figuring out my camera!!!
Brakes.
Now I'm sure there is some setting that would allow me to take a better picture with the brake lights on, but I couldn't find it. Oh well. Should give you an idea of night brightness.

Michelle is a dirty girl, isn't she.
Those pictures sure are fuzzy. I'm going to have to try to figure out how to set this thing properly.Last edited by Mike's TA; 09-17-2008 at 05:44 PM.

I used some tint spray from a hobby shop and i believe it was called Pactra. Tinted my corners and my DRLs on my TA and worked out very well and if you have any mess ups it comes off with alcohol. I recommend it. Only $5. What did you use Joshie?

Ill try to get some when its daylight. Im rarely awake when its day unless its the weekend. Im going to buy some red bulbs for the lights to give it a deeper red look plus im going to go over them a couple of more times then coat them with clear so it doesnt come off with alcohol. Im going to do the reverse lights tonight.
