Questions
I finally got my ws9 hood painted and i noticed several spots in the paint. It looks like tiny spots where the paint caved in. The guy at the shop told me this was "normal for fiberglass hoods" fortunately this is not the owner and i will be speaking to him tomorrow. My question is, have any of yall ever heard of this?
asked someone i know about it and they said its "fish eye" there must be 50 spots in the hoodLast edited by atilla2000tax2; 04-04-2007 at 02:06 PM.

I am going to call on that one. I painted my own hood and no cave ins there. He did not clean it right before painting. Meaning there was some kind of wax, grease, or whatever and the paint did not stick. Have him repaint it for free or get your money back and go to another guy. BUT do not let them lie about that.
If it was primed or sealed correct there is no way that the paint should not cover well. That only happens when there is a contaminant or if he rushed that paint causing "solvent pop". Meaning that he did not wait the proper time between coats. This happens if you do not let the right amount of time between coats. You must leave the proper time to allow some of the solvent to vent out before the next coat.Last edited by SandmanWs7; 04-04-2007 at 02:11 PM.

founds like fisheye to me. It's from variations in temperature when painting or solvents or wax still in the hood. that's why you gotta prep the hood first and strip it down to bare fiber and paint when the hood is warm to get the optimal finish

And so you can act like you know, tell them that one way to fix it is to mix clear as if he were going to repaint the hood, and use a toothpic and put a drop on the fisheye and when it is completly dry to wet sand it and buff it out. That would be the easy way, or he can repaint the hood.

was it black. Did you just tell them to paint it as cheap as possible or to make it look good by doing what was needed?

in that acse it is thier faul they should have primed, sanded, reprimed, resanded, sealed then paint and clear. That would have fixed ANY imperfections. THEY ARE AT FAULT. Have them redo it or give you your money back so you can go to someone better.

Here is a pic of my hood. It was done in a building but not in a spray booth. So if it was the fiberglass of the hood it should realy be fucked up. Plus i did not blend.
