Painting exhaust help with rust ?
I was thinking sense painting your headers is suppost to prevent rust and make them last longer. What about painting your exhaust using high temp. engine paint ? i was thinking about painting it all black with 3 coats if you guys think it would help it last longer. Its my DD so it sees alittle rain but never snow or ice.

I used high temp rustoleum. Flat Black. It's supposed to withstand up to 1200 degrees. To me, it's also the easiest to paint with. It kind of bonds with the metal rather than sitting on it. No worries of runs or anything.
I had also done this on my last vehicle. I got 18" rims and the brake rotors and spacers I had to have looked horrible behind the new gunmetal rims. All rusty and crap. So I got some gunmetal rustoleum and painted them, masking off the braking area of course. Looked awesome afterwards and never had any problems with them.Last edited by Mike's TA; 09-29-2008 at 09:31 AM.
