when i did mine i just: sprayed with brake cleaner, then dumped a bucket of hot water all over it. then i took a small brush, and some hi temp engine paint and painted them, turned out great.

Polish them. Did mine a while back and LOOOOOOVVVVVVVEEEEEE it. Took me a good amount of time to do it though, but the more you put into it, the better they will look. Just start with like 50 grit and work your way to a finer and finer grit. They will eventually look chrome.

I also powdercoated my brackets black, to me, it looked sweet as crud on a black car though.

well, start talking around with a lot of people, and find out what they do for a living and kinda what it might involve. Make a good buddy that does the powder coating and all it cost is a little bit o money then. Might even let ya do it yourself, too.

Not sure how they do it everywhere, but my buddy from in the Air Force pretty much cleaned the heck out of my brackets, hung them on a electrically charged hanger (or whatever its called), sprayed a black powder on them and then baked it at 450 or something for like half an hour. Then let them cool and admire them.

I think that is what happened.

that kit is POOP! just buy some red high temp engine spraypaint and high temp clearcoat. You'll need some wire brushes and brake cleaner to get all the old grime off, otherwise the paint wont' stick

Pace Performance sells a brush on kit for $40. This is the kit I used. This kit works great but you will need more brake cleaner than what's provided in the kit.

The kit comes with the paint, hardener, brush, paint stick and can of brake cleaner. This paint kit is made for brake calipers. Just using high temp paint does not work as well and fades over time.

I use the high temp engine paint then clear over the top of it. I just did our 07 TBSS last Saturday. I used laquer thinner to clean them let them dry, used tin foing to cover brake lines and susp components. Then sprayed the color( I used red) then let it tack off then spray another coat then let it tack up then I used clear coat. Same thing high temp eng clear. I usually do about 3 coats of color and 2 coats of clear. Then I applied my decals. I painted my caliper brackets black. MIne turned out great. WIll try and get pics to post up.

How hard is it to actually get the caliper off and back on again once youre finished? I dont do alot of car stuff myself so I'm hesitating to start this project in my garage with the stock jackstand that came with the car and hardly any tools laying around.

This is the kit I used. It worked great. Just take your time and remove the calipers. The hardest part is getting the calipers clean enough. Invest in a wire brush and alot of brake cleaner for the best results. As for the paint, super gossy and when it's dry, it looks like the calipers are powder coated.
