    1998 Trans Am

    painting air lid

    ok, Im trying to paint my air lid, but it wont shine? I sanded/wet sanded it, washed it and put Gloss black on it. But it wont shine, what do I need to do?

    you using a sealer/primer sort of thing first?

    Clearcoat is what shines. Primer, Paint, clear, and buff.

    depending on the shine he wants he wouldn't have to use a clear if it's a high gloss paint....

    you dont necessary need clear . . but it sounds like you need a plastic prepping primer (probably flexible). Then clean very well with prep. If you dont want to use base-clear, you can use a standard gloss enamel. its just much easier to buff and polish base-clear.
