Paint?
The paint on my hood is pretty bad. It's been redone, and was simply cheaped out on. Sooo, my question is, is there any way to restore this paint? I have tried polishing and waxing and yada yada yada, but to no avail. is there any way, short of getting it professionally repainted, to get it looking good again?

Whats the problem? Is it dull? Swirled? chipped? cracked? depends alot on the problem. If its dull you may be able to try a porter cable 7424 buffer with the right pad and a good product like 3M.

all of the above. it has faded, it looks like, due to heat from the engine compartment/sun. it appears to have a whitish film over these areas. some places it is chipped and cracked... and the worst part of all is that someone used a scratch filler on it so there are these ugly blotches that have no similarity to the original texture everywhere.
