    99 trans am

    need help to fix my wheels

    Ok I own 99 ws.6 my wheels look like crap the car looks great but not my wheels, half of the clear coat is missing on three of them and were the aluminum is showing it looks oxydized, is there a way were I could strip the clear coat of my self and repolish it and what would I use?

    yeah, use aircraft stripper (think thats what its called). . . then wet sand. id start with 2000 grit. if that doesnt make them nice and smooth go to 1000, 800 if necessary but not any courser. then you can prob finish them off with some mothers metal polish and a good buffing attachment.

    polished wheels CAN look great but they are a huge PITA to keep that way

    after you clean them up you can clear powder coat them for 50 to 75 bucks apiece and never polish again like mine.

    yeah cuz if you buy mothers powerball you gotta buy one every few months . . . pos. get the good quality buff bobs from eastwood

    yeah I haven't been able to walk for about 15 months after my motorcycle accident and wshing the car on crutches is not an option. so I like not having to polish the wheels. plus paying for some one to wash the car sucks.

    yeah it is cheaper than new wheels but still not cheap imo
