    LED DRL's from VLEDS.com

UPDATE 9-18-11: I experienced issues with the solder in these LED lights. I no longer use them as DRL. Please read all the thread before you make the desicion to buy.

Well I finally decided to order these from V-LEDS.com. I'm pretty happy with the way they look. They are bright and don't produce any heat. This will help with the burnt socket issue in my opinion. You will need an electronic flasher for these to work. No resistors required. Bulb is 3157 style.

Here is what came in the package:

    Size compared to regular bulbs:

If you read at the bottom it says that type 2 bulbs will not work with DRL's. That's why I ordered the type 1.

What's an "electronic flasher"? How hard is it to install? Where does it go? Where do you buy one? Sorry for all the questions

So you just swap them out right?

Let me know how they are in a month or so. That's when the new bulbs always seem to die.

He said you have to install a electronic flasher as well, but I don't know where or how. Probably have to tap the lines? This is probably the reason the several brands I have tried in the past didn't work.

I noticed in the video, the DRL's were white to start then blinked amber when the turn signal was flipped. Then at the end of the video, it was reversed. Did you just simply flip the bulb around for this?

I'm dying to get a set of these to match my LED fogs.

The electronic flasher I refer to is your regular turn signal flasher. You need to replace it with the new ones that are electronic. Those are sold at any auto part place.

I bought these ones because my friend had them in his TA for 3 months now with no issues. i will keep an eye on this as far as if they last.

DRL mode - The lights are amber and flash amber

parking lights with/without foglights on - lights are amber, flash white/amber with turn signal on

Headlight on - lights are white, flashes white amber with turn signal.

The bulbs are direct plug in. They have to be plug in the right way or they don't work. It happened to me when i installed them, the DRL wont work. I pulled them out flip them and it worked fine.

yes the one you posted is the type 1 and the ones that i got. I posted the type 2 because jrxdude wanted to get type 2's. The type 2 page has a note at the bottom that says they don't work with DRL so I wanted to warn all of you from getting type 1's.

    Gotcha.

Do they make a set that's white all the time, except when using the turn signal?

Does camaros have the same 3157 bulb? The LED light bulb is about the same width and height as the regular bulb. I'm sorry im not familiar with the siganl housings of camaros. I know it pretty much the same car but not sure on the plugs.

The main thing is to test for the type of socket: CK or standard. they have a video but our cars is a little different. I had to have the ignition switch in the "on" position and instead of checking for the grounds I check for 12v pins with the parking lights on and the turn signal on. So i put my test light on the negative cable post. For some reason when i follow the site video all the pins will show ground with the ignition switch off.

the only dual color are the ones that I have. they are called switchbacks. the type 2's will peform as you want but those are the ones that says it won't work with DRL. They also make them all white and all amber.

you ever replace the turn signal flasher? If you havent then I will try to guide thru it. i cant post pics today. im at work and don't get out for 24 hrs.

pretty much you have to remove the panel under the steering wheel and there is 2 flashers. one for the hazards and one for turn signals. for some reason the bulbs work fine with the regular OEM flasher when you put the hazards on. you are going to see a metal piece that run along the whole dash. the flashers are mounted behind that metal piece between the steering column and the radio. The best way to find which one is the correct one is to find them and then turn your hazards on. you will hear the flasher working. you can touch it and feel it clicking to confirm. that one is the one for the hazards(daaahh....) so you need to remove the other flasher and put the electronic one. put everything back together.
