How to smoke lights?

So i bought some clear coat and some VHT night shade...

how exactly do i go about doing so?

does it go on the outside or inside? and if it goes on the inside, how do i take it appart?

i tried searching but i didnt find anything

The outside bud. Don't put it on too thick.

I did my markers I scuffed lightly prepped surface with mineral spirits but use whatever the paint recommends you will probably have to do some wet sanding before clearing and the clear coat to get it smooth.

Just cleaned them up smd sprayed them w/ blackout spray

Whoops didn't mean to post picture yet, but all i did was sand the taillight level spray with vht and then clear over it. Do not put on to thick like other people already said. I sprayed until you can still see the orange coming through.

well im gonna run down to the pull a part and see if i can find a cheap light there to practice on
