How to paint engine bay plastic parts ?

i wanted to do some TLC on my engine bay by cleaning it up and painting the front end plastic part, lid, the plastic part holding the lid like marked in the picture with red X's. How would i go about doing this ? sand it down then apply 3 coats of gloss black then 2 coats of clear ?

I used plastic paint after sanding and a heavy degrease. Then two coats clear.
