Hood Struts
Are the hood struts on a LS1 SS the same as those on a LS1 Z28?

No. Slp put different hood struts on there, factory Z struts are 78 lbs/ft struts and I believe that SLP SS struts are about 50 lbs/ft. Still too strong for my purposes, but if you bought a GM SS hood, those are what you'd need.

Just put 'em on and close the hood, if it doesn't take a lot of effort you'll be fine, but if you've really gotta tug, switch them out, you don't want to bend the fiberglass and crack the paint!

I lucked out. It actually closes easier than my old hood did. Nice and smooth movement, no tugging! I guess they're just a bit worn out after close to 7 years of use!

I used my stock struts when I went to a fiber glass hood. close to 4 years now no problems.
