Help picking right blacke paint for ss
I have a 98 ss red maro. Nice red paint job, can tell it was garaged, but I need to go black. Any suggestions on the process? Is maaco ok? SHould I buy my own black paint and let someone spray me? I like the black off the 10 ss.???

As a previous autobady man, I urge you not to use Maaco. Far too many times I've seen and had to redo Maacos work. I'm hoping maybe it's just my area and not nationwide, but from the work I've seen by them.. over spray, tape lines, dry down, tiger stripes, uneven coats, fish eye finishing. Whenever doing a full color change you can expect to pay a hefty amount due to the extra labor involved in the process. If you're thinking of buying your own paint, check out PPG brand. It's a premium paint and used in factory and is reasonably priced. It's not only paint you'll need, also reducers, activators and thinner. Not to mention the primer needed. Go with black or grey primer for ultimate effect. You can find the paint code of the 10 SS on a sticker in either the glovebox or the doorjam. You'll see a series of number, the paint code will be near the end, starting with "WA ####". Good luck in whatever you decide on. Post pics when it's finished.
