    Headlight lenses hazed!

The headlight lenses on my 2000 Z28 are getting pretty badly hazed. Almost getting opaque. Is there anything that can be done with these? New headlight modules are expensive. I saw a guy at a car show last summer with a polishing compound that he was working on that really cleared up the lenses on a couple of Mustangs, but his product isn't on the market yet. Is there any product or procedure you guys recommend?

There is a product by Meguiars called "PlastX". It comes in a white bottle and works extremely well. I think it sells for $5-7 bucks. Pick it up and give it a shot. If that doesn't help, you will probably have to get some 200, 400, 800, and 1600 grit sandpaper and work on them that way.

Also use the plastx after you wet sand the headlights.

I just used the PlastX on my lenses and they still have a slight dingy spottiness to them. Lots clearer than when I started. I also tried some of the stuff I've got around here, such as Meguiar's Mirror Finish Plastic Polish, Meguiar's Fine Cut Swirl Remover and some Mother's Cleaner Wax. None of them dented the crap either. I'm really hesitant to wet sand my headlight lenses. Gee, I remember back when you bought headlights with crystal clear glass lenses for under $4 and plugged them into the stupid car. Those headlight clusters for the Camaro aint cheap. Progress marches on!
