finished my calipers
I just thought I would show how they turned out. Not perfect but I dont think they are to bad. Now I just need to do something about those rusty rotors.

WOW! that is nice. I really love the look of polished calipers and u really did a good job. I've been trying to shine mine up, but i been very dissapointed w/ them. However, a fellow ls1 member and I have been talking about it and i think i just need to use a finner grit paper. Just out of curiosity, what grit papers did u use?

Its not really that hard to do. It just takes a little time.
1 To start I used some 60 grit sandpaper and sanded out the casting lines and all the little rough areas til it was nice and smooth.
2 Next I used 120 than 320 to get rid of all the scratches.
3 Once that was all done I wet sanded it with 800 than 1500 to get a really nice finish on it.
4 The last thing I did was polish it with Mother's metal polish a few times to bring out the shine.
I sanded every thing by hand but if you want to save some time you could use a sander to make it a little faster but I would only do that with the 60 grit Thats about all there is to it. For the paint I just used that Caliper paint kit you can get at Walmart and put 4 coats on it.

WOW!!!! I want to do that on mine. That looks great. I dont have the money to buy new rotors just to clean up the look. Do you think if I painted the rusty part of my rotors black it would look good?? If not black what color would you go with??

Turned out pretty good. I was going to post some pics of mine but I just realized that I lost all of my earlier pics of my car when my 2ndary hard drive crashed a few months ago I took mine all the way up to 2000 grit paper with a vibrating sander. You could see a reflection before the polish was applied :P
