i installed a Fiberglass hood also and i mounted the Old strut mounts but took the pins out, so i can use it to hold the hood up, i believe they are too strong for constant use.

I have a fiberglass hood and I use the stock hood struts. Like the other guy said I keep them disconnected though. im too cheap to buy replacement struts. I only connect them at shows and in the garage

I use a pvc pipe that I cut to fit that sits in the garage.
I wrote on it "hood prop camaro do not throw out"

I had the same thing for my '71 Chevelle.. that's too damn funny.

If the stock ones are too strong, get a pair for a Firehawk- our hoods are fiiberglass and have struts.

Stock struts work fine. I have had my Sunoco hood for 5 years now. No issues period....
