That darn shifter
For anyone who has an A4 tranny you know what I'm talking about. The plastic thing around the gear shift rattles and drives me up the wall! I get around 2000 RPMs and bbbbbzzzzzzzzzz! Does anyone know how to install a leather boot on our cars? Any pics would help.

Heck yeah I know what you mean. Hadn't considered the possibility of replacing that. Interesting idea...

Certainly not perfect I think a boot out of an a4 vette would work much better

It isn't hard at all just a couple of screws, I don't think cutting the shifter down is an option since the button mechanism on the top runs down the center of the shifter.
c-clip in front of the shifter, 2 screws in the center console and 2 bolts in the very front.

You'll do all that work only to find out it's the button itself not the knob..

To add: just about any of the GM auto console knobs will work on your stem.. There a few that wont too but they are'nt common enough to worry about.. You could take the "T" handle out of a 1982 cavalier wagon and install it on a 2002 f-bod.. lol Hell the cloth seats in 4th gen Camaro's could pass for 82 Cavalier too.Last edited by Smittro; 05-20-2010 at 06:47 PM.
