Crappy Paint on Hood

So my hood has started fading and peeling badly on my 02 TA. My car is red so it really looks bad since the hood is starting to turn orange. I've heard rumers that GM had problems with either the primer or paint and that they've takin the car to a dealership and got it fixed for free. Has anyone else had this problem or heard anything about this? Thanks

havent heard about that before, there guna say its sun damage i believe, the peel that your talking about is on the sides between the t-tops and rear window, early in the morning cant think of what its called, GM had a problem with that and for the most part fixed most of them for free but ive never heard of anything about peel/fading on the hood

the clear coat on my hood just went ape shit the last few mos and started flaking off...mine looks horrible on black it makes me sooooo sad i want to cry...if u find out anything about that let me know, mine turn to white splotches then flake off...

how long have you owned your car, was it or is it parked outside, how well is it maintained and do you polish and wax it????

Have the t-top and hood issue as well... Looks horrible

it's cleaned and waxed all the time. it's outside about like any other vehicle. i'm the second owner so i don't know about it's past. try to put it in a garage during bad weather.

what kind of soap/wax are you using, whats "all the time" how many miles are on the car?

couple times a month and probably don't wax enough. can't remember what kind of soap right now. it has 70k miles.

no it was my brothers and he took great care of it. the peeling started the end of summer last year and just keeps getting worse.

you just said you dont know about its past then you say it was your brothers and you know he took good care of it??

i think it all depends on where you live and if the car has been garaged when not in use and pm. my last 02 ta was red and i sold with 97,00 mi on it and the paint was still like new and my 02 firehawk i just bought in july of last year with 45,000 mi on it and the paint isnt in near as good of shape.

yeah thats what i was thinking as well.

and yes i am the third owner. i was refering to the fact that it stayed in the family, but thanks for the help about the paint.
