clear coating the windshield valance
I'm talking about the plastic part that the windshield wipers lay on. After 7 years of direct sunlight, my windshield valance is like salt-n-pepper black. I sometimes wipe some tireshine on there to turn it black, but what i'd really like to do is paint it and clear it.
has anyone done this at all? do i have to paint it, or can i just clearcoat it? thanks!

You could try using Back-to-Black made by Mothers. It is kind of a black dye that will polish it. It has worked for me.

Grey- 2010 Camaro 2SS/RS CGM
just pull it off, sand it down shoot some plastic adhesive on it, then prime it, if you want it to look really good i would shoot it with a paint gun but if not a spray can would work, i would use glossy black, then you can eithor shoot clear over it with a paint gun or you can get clear in a can also. They will both turn out fine.

shouldnt be any problem to paint it... plastic is harder to paint but shouldnt be a problem. Any shop should do it for pretty cheap (Jake Sweeney auto Body in cinci etc)

I can't believe that yours is faded that much. I have had 2 F-Bodys. One 97 and the other a 98. Both have over 130,000 miles and no fade and they are not kept in a garage. I am interested in seeing a pick of the windshield valence? Any pics?

Actually, I could see the heat doing a good amount of damage to plastics and weatherstripping.
