Changing the shifter knob Ques
Hey guys, I wanted to change the stock "hurst" shifter knob on my M6 to a classic round (sphere) one... My question is:
Can I just twist/take off the stock knob one or do I need to replace the whole shifter stick?
Or is it worse than I though it would be and have to replace the whole thing and get a new shifter/short throw kit?

It should unscrew on M6's. On an auto, you have to remove a pin (which is a real PITA BTW), and then it pops off.
Maybe it's glued on .
Also try a wrench to hold the stick, and larger one (ie. a pipe wrench) to use to twist the "knob". Since your replacing it, doesn't matter if it gets scratched. And the stick gets covered by the boot. Not sure why it's not moving...

mine needs a little persuasion from time to time to remove it. maybe from the heat cycles it goes through?

I have the same problem man so it's not only you. When replace my clutch. I tried to remove the shift nob and did the exact same thing. Good luck though!

from the factory they put loctite on the know threads so you gotta twist really hard. If I were you, get a short stick and an aftermarket knob. Trust me, you'll appreciate the shorter throws
