body filler
Do I have to sand the places I'm filling down to bare metal or can I just sand the clear coat off? Plus what grit paper should o use? I would like to finish up this part of the job this weekend.

I'm hearing 220 grit or 320 for taking off clear coat. 36 to 80 for taking it to bare metal. Plus u have to scuffle the paint, I don't know how true that is. I am done putting on the kit so now I am ready to mold the kit in.

You have to go to bare metal. Use 36 for that. Then you have to feather edge. What that means is you have the bare metal then hard paint lines around it. Start with 220 to help knock it down. Then use 320 and go further out. The reason is when you go to prime it will be smooth when sanded instead if being raised.

You are suppose to sand down to bare metal if you want to do the best method. That's how the pros do it I think.. but sometimes I just sand with 80 grit so it has a lot of metal and paint grooves to grab a hold of Bondo Body Filler Basics - Paint Car
