Billet Grille: Best Way to Install?
Hi everybody
Last week I got a billet grille from eBay, which really looks awesome (when manually held over the factory grille). As I didn't want to damage the factory grille I removed the front fascia. Then I removed the factory grille from the fascia and now there are 8 ugly holes where the factory grille was mounted and also the 2 big holes. I'm now wondering how I should install the billet grille so that it looks best.
Option 1: Reinstall the factory grille and screw the billet grille on top of it.
Advantage: No need to cover the factory grille mounting holes.
Disadvantage: Damages the factory grille. The technical inspection authority could theoretically force me to remove the billet grille (silly european regulations), so I would have to buy a new factory grille.
Option 2: Screw the billet grille directly to the front fascia
Advantage: The factory grille would stay intact and could easily be reinstalled if the authorities object to the billet grille.
Disadvantge: All the holes left by the factory grille would have to be covered.
So my questions are:
- What looks better in your opinion?
- How did you install your billet grille?
- Would you install it differently if you had to install it again?
- What is the cost of a new factory grille?
- If you screwed the billet grille directly to the fascia:
-- How did you cover the factory grille mounting holes?
-- Did you also cover the two big holes? How?
-- What color is your car? (I suppose it's easier to cover the holes on a black car?)
Thank you in advance,
Mike

Black on Black- 2001 Camaro SS
You must Remove the factory grill and screw into the front fascia. That is the proper installation for the billet grill. I have never seen one that was bolted to the factory griil. You will have to cut the factory grill out.
