white rear bumper with black dots...

Ok so this is happening to only the rear bumper of my white SS. These are black dots that wont come off with regular washing or the claybar. Most of them are smooth and it seems like they are in the paint. It is only on top and down the front of the rear bumper. Anyone else having this problem? Not sure what it is from...exhaust? Anyone know how to remove this crap? I would see if this is happening to my WS6 as well, but it is black so no answers there...

could just be little specs of tar, and crap (technical wording here..) that gets deposited there due to the turbulent wake behind the vehicle... i can't say i have these specs on the rear bumper, but from time to time i'll get them on fender areas behind the wheels.. if they don't come off from regular washing/scrubbing, ..try cleaner wax.

Have you tried a scratch remover? Maybe that'll help out some, maybe a small amount of rubbing compound?

It would really help us if you know where the dots come from.

I would try this: Spray windsheld wiper fluid on the bumper and scrub with a bug remover sponge

if this dosen't work then wipe diesel fuel on (wait one minute) wipe off and wash with soap and water.

    Ben Stiller movie.

use a medium grade clay bar with a bit of degreaser for lube.

Is that on the top side of the rear bumper? If so I have no idea what it is but my silver 02 that I had did the same thing as well as our white 98. Clay bar took care of it on both of them.

Yes it is on the top side of the rear bumper. I tried the Mothers Clay bar kit and it didnt even budge those spots. I'm almost to the point of just saying "to hell with it"

could it be paint overspray from something?

what about trying degreaser (dish soap), and scrubbing w/ that - let it sit on there for a while before washing off..

I had noticed a few spots on my bumpers as well but they are like a light red color. I had my front bumper painted and they just started to show up they are smal so can't really see them. I have some in the back bumper as well but the back bumper has never been painted by me yet. These are behind the clearcoat. I will post some pics tomorrow.

Possibly air pockets from when the paint was applied? Now the paint is flaking exposing primer?

Have you given rubbing compound a shot yet? Try a small area and see if that works.

I like Meguiar's Ultimate compound. It's not a harsh abrasive.

A mother's clay bar you buy at any store is not aggressive enough. You will need a medium or possibly heavy grade clay bar. google it or go to autogeek/detailedimage and buy one. consider some Iron-X while you're shopping.

I have the exact same spots on my bumper! Before I clayed it you could feel the bumpy spots but after they're smooth but the spots are still there. I've tried everything to and even a hard claybar kit and nothing works. I may have to wetsand it or just have it repainted. Let me know if you find something that works.

You are exactly right. You can see them but when you run your hand over it, it is like it isnt there. Very annoying. I am going to try to see what will get that mess off. Right now the car is in the shop..a lady smacked right into my front quarter panel and tore it all up along with my front bumper...so she is in the shop and I'm awaiting her return!
