    Washing/Waxing too Often?

Is there such a thing as washing/waxing too often(ex. washing once a week and waxing once a month), I've heard from from various sources that too much washing/waxing is actually bad for your paint, what do you think?

If you know how to take care of your paint, you can wash it and/or wax it as many times as you wish. Of course, if you put swirls and scratches on your paint every time you do it, you will make your paint looks dull before long. But a dull paint can always be cured by a good treatment anyway. So, don't worry too much...

i try to wax me T/A about every 5 times i wash. By that 4th or 5th wash, I start seeing the little scratches and nics pretty good by then.

If you go by the theory that any touching of the car = some more swirls in the paint, then yes I guess washing it too much is bad. If your using a bad wash mit and drying with normal towels, then yes washing it a lot will hurt it.

But if you know how to wash your car and your waxing it consistantly to keep a layer of wax on it, then you can't wash it too much.

I go overboard too. No problems and I think the key is to stay away from the abrasives in some of the cleaner waxes unless you absolutely need it. No washing in the hot sun either. Meguiar's GOLD has nothing harsh in it and it shines like 'showroom new'. I think you could wax it every week and you wouldn't hurt a thing. You would just be waxing the wax.

I wash mine once, maybe twice a week, and wax once a week.
Hasn't hurt any of my last 4 cars.

I don't think you can apply too much products (I could be wrong). Only thing you could do is damage your paint surface if you do not correctly apply the products (spider webbing, scratches, exc exc).

Go overboard! We love our vehicles!
