ts|s Detailing: 71 Liquid Black LeMans

Try not to drool on your keyboards! This restoration took roughly 10 hours. Lots of body panels to work on and all the chrome needed polishing too. The engine bay needed a good bath too (i forgot to shoot after pix!!!! though )

    Before shots:

Here you can see marring in the paint from poor washing/drying technique. This paint was SUPER soft so it had to be wiped down gently so as not to mar the finish again.

Engine got a bath too. Always block off your air intake and cover your alternator! I use aluminum foil around the alternator, it's water proof and conforms around things really great.

Owner claimed the car was claybarred last month; this is why I clay every car I touch!

All taped up and ready to buff

The money shot, after 2 polishing steps, you can see an epic correction.

After hours of polishing, the cars is washed again and then waxed with Blackfire Wet Diamond

    LOVE these next two shots

    Thanks for looking!

Here's his OTHER show car....can you guess what it is???

Damn nice work! Do you do a standard buff and then a pass with a swirl remover on black cars?

Almost looks like he used a foam gun/cannon. I never thought about spraying down the engine with it though.

On black, you kinda have too. A single polish step just doesn't reduce enough swirls. Since his paint was soft (after market, only 5 years old) I used my Flex DA and a hydrotech cyan pad with M105 followed by a tangerine pad with M205.

Thank you, i used a foam cannon with my pressure washer, loaded it with some Chemical Guys citrus wash and an oz of their "Bugger" wash b/c it's good for loosening grease. I worked most of the engine with a soft brush, and used Chemical Guys "Grime Reaper" @ 5:1 for tougher spots. Rinsed everything down with the pressure washer, then dried with a towel and the blower on my vacuum. Dressed it all with CD2

Not a problem, he ordered my "Stage III Package" + an additional polish step, so the total was $345, here is how it's written on my site:

This service is a combination of Stage 1 + 2 plus the addition of an engine cleaning. We start by thoroughly cleaning the interior's dash, upholstery, leather and seats, shampooing the carpets and dresssing everything in a semi-gloss conditioner to prevent cracking and block UV rays. Focus is then turned too the wheels and engine where everything is thoroughly degreased and cleaned, then dressed with a high gloss finish. Finally the paint is washed and decontaminated (click here for more info on clay bar paint decontamination) then washed again-properly setting it up to be machine polished to a brilliant luster, removing most swirls and light oxidation. Finally it's all topped off with your choice of wax or sealant. $300 (add a second polish step for just $45-inquire withinfor more info.)
