Thoughts on Ceramic spray

I'm on Facebook and Tweeter like everybody else and I see the adds about Ceramic spray the question I have about the spray do you already have to have Ceramic base coat on the car that was put on by a professional or can you just use it like a detail spray on a unprotected car surface?

To be honest, I have the same inquiry mind. I haven't tried to use ceramic spray on my own before but seeing the outcome everywhere is kind of tempting.

Why? How helpful is it? What are the disadvantages of ceramic spray?

My opinion, if your car is out in the weather then ceramic is worth considering. If it is in the garage and only out on nice days or for shows, wax on wax off. My TA gets wax or glaze.

Ceramic when applied well over a properly prepared surface will look nice, protect really well, and last quite a while but it does not really get to the same level of depth of shine as a properly done wax and buff. With ceramic you absolutely must fully prep the surface with a clay bar or other deep cleaning before applying ceramic or it will not coat properly and may look streaky.

My truck that lives outside gets ceramic so I don't have to do it as often. Then you get to the problem of what ceramic. Good luck there, lots to read and many comparisons posted. Since it was for my outdoor vehicles I read a bunch and settled on what appears to be a good compromise between cost and performance, Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray.
