    Swirls on stripes

I have a buddy with a '10 SS, and when he washed the car last he waxed over the black vinyl stripes, so now he has swirls on them that won't go away when he washes it. Someone told him to put WD 40 on them and the swirls would go away (not sure that I would've done that...), but it just makes the stripes shiny black until the WD40 wears off then the swirls are back. (Doesn't seem like the WD40 hurt anything..) ANYWAY, is there any way to remove the swirls, or is he SOL? Maybe he'll just have to keep putting something on them to hide the swirls?? Anyone dealt with this before?

i would think SOL....but WD40 is some amazing stuff...what cant it do aside from making a good cup of coffee..and even then its better than starbucks.

maybe im wrong on the SOL part? but everytime we had customers come in complaining about swirl marks on there stripes after they had us detail it they got new stripe kits.

I was wondering if he would be able to just remove the wax and be ok. I'll have him try the simple green and/or the wax remover. Thanks for the help, I'll let ya'll know the outcome...

    My life is a
    Ben Stiller movie.

wd40 and simple green are cleaners-how will a cleaner remove swirls???? Swirls are hairline scratches in the surface, not dirt.

For over the counter products, grab some Megs scratchX and a foam hand polishing pad. Tape the paint off and go to town. Then wax them afterward.

I thought Goose told me that I could use Zaino polish/sealant on my 35th stripes before. Now I am a bit hesitant. I understand wax isn't the same as polish right?

Correct. wax and polish are differnt. Polish has abrasives in it which diminish swirls. They do make combo polish/sealants (called "All in one's" or "AIO"). They have abrasives which break down and turn into sealant.
