Pledge on black cars
A teacher of mine said that he use to detail cars back in the early 70's for some extra cash, said he use to use Pledge on black cars as quick detailer. He said it worked very well at keeping the dust off, and with a black trans am the back end is a magnet for pollen and dust. Just wanted to get some opinions on this seeing that paint in the 60's and early 70's was a little different than what’s on cars today.

It is just a water based oil finish it looks good but doesn't last very long. I use Meguiars Ultimate Quik Detailer because it's 2009.

Being that it is water based...it shouldn't hurt anything.
But I can't see it lasting for shit either.
Plus apparently bees really like the smell....

I've used it too on the interior in the long past gone......But why would you want to use it today with so many other things available..And better......Made for what they are intended for....

I agree. I have a black Z and tried several quick detailers- I found Prima "slick" to be the best I have tried. It leaves the paint slick-just like the name and has anti- static properties to repell dust. Works on glass too-just in case a little gets on the glass-no biggie.

there are a lot of things you can use for multiple jobs. ie coke on a battery cable and it may work but when there are so many good products, why?

Yea it is good stuff. Did you ever dry your car or remove some wax with a microfiber towel and feel the amount of static electricity the front "plastic" bumper has? Mine had alot-which attracts dust/pollen. I bought a rubber strap that bolts to the car and drags the ground-reducing static electricity.
