How much to paint a sportbike?

I was curious, I've never had a car/bike painted before so I don't even know where to start as an estimate...I'm looking to get an old car and a newer sportbike after my 2 sell, but I'm finding alot of bikes that are great price/miliage but are horribly ugly colors like yellow or bright ass toy colored green... I'd hate to pass up a good bike because its a stupid color, so I was wondering about how much I would be looking at to have a complete paintjob done on a full fairing sportbike? nothing fancy probably like metallic black with some basic highlights, im not talking showcar paint with crazy mixed colors and designs and flames and all... $500? $3000? I cant even estimate...can anyone ballpark? im just not sure because most cars are metal body and im pretty sure most sport bikes are all plasic, no? can it even be done reliably? i dont want some spraypaint over the original thats gunna fade and peel in 3 seasons!

I was in the same boat when I bought my gsxr...found one for a great price, but it was yellow. I got it painted for $800 (that included some body work because the previous owner scractched up one side). I just went with one color, I was wanting some airbrushing, but he wanted closer to 1500-2000. Hope it helps

Hey Grandkodiak, I'm in the same boat as you. I love my bike, but I hate the yellow color. I've been searching for places for months now that will paint a sportbike in NJ. If you find one, let me know.
