how can i remove this
not sure if this is the right thread to post this in but....when i bought my car it had what looked to be a gps 3m mount on the dash, yea the vinyl dash. anyways i removed the plastic mounting point but the 3m stayed on the dash. have been putting this off for fear of ripping, tearing, chunking, basically putting any flaw in the dash. if anyone knows what a safe way to remove this is please chime in. ive considered heating with a hairdryer then goo gone ect ect but i dont know if goo gone will discolor the dash or if i will be able to remove without damage

I think a heat gun/hair dryer would be the first step like you said. Maybe you could slip some fishing line under it to loosen it up off the dash

would a heat gun be too hot or start with a hairdryer and if that doesnt work enough bump to a heat gun on low and slowly increase heat until progress is made and i would have never thought of fishing line

Start low and see if the hair dryer worksNot sure how the goo gone would react to the dash

Heating up and rolling it off would probably work good and maybe some rubbing alcohol to remove the last of the gooey stuff?

Heat gun would be too much for a vinyl dash imo. Hairdryer and as suggested, maybe a piece of nylon fishing line. WD40 should remove the adhesive without harming anything. Just be sure to wash the area with warm soapy water when finished and then hit it with a vinyl protectant.

i just have a slight amount of sticky residue left. i parked in the hot sun this morning and then worked it with a plastic razorblade (lightly). turns out a finger nail is better than the razorblade lol. i just keep hitting it with vinyl cleaner to soften the foam, which is now all gone. now just gotta get the rest of the residue off. time to bust out the wd i guess

so after plastic razorblade and more useful a fingernail of all things...dont mind the cracked dash pad
couldnt find wd40 so i gave armorall a shot sprayed the residue, let it sit for 5-10 mins. folded up paper towl and rubbed with medium pressure in a circular motion. and voila!!! then i had to clean the dash so there wasnt a super clean spot and then the rest of the dash haha
