help with waxing black
I went over my car with scratch x last night. Applied it to one section at a time, and used arm strength to buff it out. I've got the big hood bird and side pillar birds on my car. The paste from the scratch x has put a small outline along the edges of the decals. How do you guys get around this? Is there a black wax out there? also, how the hell do i get the dried up paste off of the edges, or do i just wait till i wash it again?

to get into cracks/creveces and around lettering such as the "trans am" on the door u can use a toothbrush and it wont do anything. lightly brush the area with the toothbrush and it will come off.

Red Tint Jewelcoat- 2008 Trailblazer SS
I basically get a microfiber towel into those areas. Pinch it in there as best as possible.

i like it a bit. i mean its no miracle for the car, but the car's a bit more shiney i guess. I want to use a swirl remover, and try to get the car lookin alot better. I'll try the toothpic/brush/qtip/microfiber towel tricks tomorrow and let you guys know what one works. I just hope i dont screw the paint up and then need to use the scratch x then lol

I have swirls in my car so that is why I asked. I'm to cheap to go to zaino, and to scared to use more abrasives to polish it.

Wrap the toothbrush in a microfiber towel then go over it. Next time try to go lightly on the wax in those areas so you don't have all of that excess. That is whay I like Zaino so much because I know it is not the best, but it leaves no white residue and it smells nice IMO.

Subscribed. My black paint needs some work too.
I just recently bought the Turtle Wax Black Box, and that wax is black. Worked pretty good on my car, but I've still got more to do.

Yea black is a full time job and one day i really need to do my car, also have a black truck which is huge and that one will take me a weekend. I do have some Zaino that I'm gonna use and see how that works.

Ok. First of all DON'T use rubbing compound. That stuff should only be used to wheel out clearcotes after paint. Lots of body shop guys use it. It's too overkill for removing swirls.
3M has a swirl remover as well as Adams, Meguiars 105 with an orange pad, followed by Meguiars 205 and a white pad.
Those 2 products when used correctly with a Porter Cable, should eliminate all swirls and light scratches. Then you will be ready for a sealant. I recommend Collinite 845 Insulator Wax. That stuff will last 6 + months and leave the car extremely shiney & durable.
I suggest if you have time to go on the autogeek forums or autopia.org and read a bit
on what your looking to do.
Black does not have to be a full time job.
Hope this helps.Last edited by superman4evr; 05-27-2010 at 11:33 AM.
